Fully funded volunteering abroad is wide open this autumn: 19 European Solidarity Corps placements are live right now across nine countries, from Tirana and Tokat to Tenerife and Lahti. Every one is fully funded, so if you have ever asked yourself what the European Solidarity Corps actually is or whether ESC volunteering is really fully funded, here is the short answer: the EU pays young people to volunteer on solidarity projects, covering travel, accommodation, food, insurance and a monthly allowance. This batch is unusually rich in social inclusion and care work. You could be supporting children with special needs in Vilnius, standing beside people rebuilding their independence at a mental-health recovery house in Forlรฌ, helping vulnerable children and young migrants in Granada, or running food aid and community support in a Finnish city. There is also a strong creative and outdoors thread. You could bring a farmhouse back to life with 17 volunteers in the Piemonte countryside, care for shelter dogs and green spaces in Poland, run a 700mยฒ skate park and creative studio in Varna, or work in a professional TV studio with young people in Gaziantep. Three of these are ESC Volunteering Teams, short group projects perfect if you would rather arrive as part of a crew than on your own.
Whoever you are, there is a fit here. Drawn to care and inclusion? There are placements with children with special needs, people with disabilities, mental-health recovery, vulnerable children and refugees. Into culture, media and sport? Tokat, Gaziantep, Varna and Angers all want your creativity. More of a hands-on, outdoors person? The Piemonte farmhouse and the Kwidzyn gardening-and-animal-shelter project are made for you. Looking for a shorter taste rather than a full year? Several run just two months, while the Tenerife placement is a full year of social inclusion in the Canary Islands. A quick word on eligibility so there are no surprises: all 19 are standard ESC placements for ages 18 to 30, but a handful are open only to residents of a single country (several to residents of Italy), so read the eligibility line on each before you apply. The deadlines are the pressure point, with the first ones already open on a rolling basis and a large group closing on 31 August, so if a placement speaks to you, move today.
