Thirty-six fully funded European Solidarity Corps placements are open right now across seventeen countries, and ten of them close as soon as the host organisation finds the right person. At Youth Works Hub we read every listing in this batch before publishing it, so what follows is the full spread with each deadline, host country and role stated plainly. The range is unusually wide this week: a music band in Spain playing for communities still recovering from the Dana floods, an ecological construction project in a French forest village, a six-month humanitarian placement in rural Nepal, a social circus organisation in Spain running aerial therapy for people with cerebral palsy, a disaster-preparedness team project in Türkiye, an instrument repair workshop in Belgium sending restored instruments to conflict zones, a food-surplus redistribution project in Italy, and a short-term documentation team in Kenya filming environmental education in schools.
Geographically this is not a Europe-only list. Fourteen of the seventeen countries are European, but three placements sit outside the continent: Kenya, Uganda and Nepal, all through ESC's partner-country track. Thematically the batch clusters into four groups. Work with children and young people is the largest, running through Romania, Poland, Austria, Belgium, Türkiye, Finland and Italy. Media, communication and content creation forms the second cluster, in Serbia, Georgia, Kenya, Slovenia and Türkiye. Renovation, ecology and collective living covers the three French placements plus the Italian food-surplus project. Social inclusion and humanitarian support carries the rest, from unaccompanied minors in Italy to displaced communities in Georgia and people with autism in Spain. If you have never applied before, what the European Solidarity Corps actually is is the place to start, and registering on the ESC Portal is the step that trips up most first-time applicants.
Every placement in this batch is fully funded under the standard ESC rules: travel reimbursed by distance band, accommodation, food, insurance and a monthly pocket money allowance for the full duration. There is no participation fee and no salary. According to the European Commission's ESC Programme Guide, volunteers also receive language support and a Youthpass certificate on completion. Timing decides a lot in this batch. Ten placements carry no fixed cut-off and close the moment a suitable volunteer is found, which in practice means the earliest complete application usually wins: the three French renovation and ecological construction projects, the two Polish placements, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, the Spanish music band and the Turkish youth work project all sit in that group. Two placements close on 20 September, so those need an application today rather than this week. The largest fixed cluster falls on 30 September with eight placements, followed by 28 September with six and 4 October with four.
Country by country, Poland, Romania and Türkiye each carry four placements, France, Spain and Slovenia three each, and Austria, Belgium, Georgia and Italy two each. Seven countries appear once: Portugal, Bulgaria, Finland, Serbia, Uganda, Kenya and Nepal. Eligibility varies more than usual here, so read it before you write anything: four placements restrict applications to residents of a single country (Spain for two of them, Italy for the Austrian youth centre, France for the Turkish education project), while the rest open to between eleven and forty-one countries.
