Description
The role of the volunteer will always be of support for the professional staff in order to understand the behaviour and attitudes of the 12 people with disability hosted in the house. He/she will help the social workers in recreational and educational group activities and in general in every aspect of everyday life. In particular his/her tasks will be: -support the people with disability in knowing the neighbourhood, the local resources and the community where they live, - organization of moments aimed at developing interpersonal skills with people with disability; - care activities for people with disability -organization of leisure moments aimed at developing guests and volunteers personal hobbies; - collaboration in planning socializing moments.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
He/she will live in a flat with other ESC volunteers, the apartment has 3 bedrooms and it’s in the city centre. The volunteer will have a single room (in the apartment there are 3 single rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room). Once a day you will eat in the canteen of the centre and have some money to buy your own food that you can cook in the kitchen of the house. You will be given a bicycle to move freely in our city during your free time!!
Training during the activity
The volunteer will have the opportunity to learn how to deal with people with disabilities, how to work in a team, how to work in a social organistaion, he/she will be offered an italian course to improve/learn the language. He/she will have the opportunity to attend some specific trainings about multiculture, volunteering, etc. In the same project we have other volunteers from different countries so this will be a very international experience!

What we are looking for in a volunteer? - It’s preferable that the volunteer have a strong interest in people with disability; - It's preferable that the volunteer have flexibility and desire to get involved; - Some knowledge of the Italian language, or a strong will to learn it
