🔷 Activity Details

Description

The volunteers will meet and guide different customers in various environments like groups, open meeting places and food or goods aid. They will also join in the planning and organizing of community events and activities, social media contents as well as new projects. Tasks related to organizing food and goods aid will be for example accepting donations, maintaining goods in "saleable” condition, participating food logistics, packing food aid bags and working in customer service. Volunteers can highlight their own skills and interests, which can be taken into account in the tasks. Volunteers are also very welcome to innovate and develop their own projects as well. Volunteers will be part of the team of our workers and other volunteers of Dila.


Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

In Finland amount of the pocket money will be 7 e per day. It will be paid monthly. Every volunteer will have a single flat with batroom and kitchenette. Dila is operating mostly in the city center of the city of Lahti. Volunteers flats are situated in the same block were the most of the activities happens. Volunteers will get lunch everyday produced by restaurant in our block or bigger budget for food shopping. Volunteers will have bicycles available to use European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is required and own travel insurance is recommended.

On Arrival Training in Villa Elba Youth Center in Kokkola, Mid Term Training in Lohirannan leirikeskus in Lohja, Finnish language course


Participant profile

We are looking for person who are keen on working with and for people and welfare. Any certain education is not needed. Active way of working, responsibility and curiosity of life are good starting points. At Dila, we work to reduce social exclusion and inequality, and we also expect volunteers to promote values that support human rights and equality.
