Volunteer abroad for free this autumn: 18 fully funded European Solidarity Corps placements are open right now, spread across nine countries and two continents. Every one is fully funded, so if you have ever wondered what the European Solidarity Corps is or whether ESC volunteering is really fully funded, here is the short version: the EU pays young people to volunteer on solidarity projects, covering your travel, accommodation, food, insurance and a monthly allowance. This batch stretches from the Sahel to the Mediterranean. You could be using data to fight hunger with Action Against Hunger in Dakar, training teachers and closing the digital divide in Kampala, helping women turn shea butter and basket weaving into lasting cooperatives in rural Ghana, or building climate resilience in communities facing a changing environment. Closer to home, there is delicate, human work supporting unaccompanied minors and young girls in Genoa, welcoming 16-to-25-year-olds into youth and culture centres in Nantes, standing with refugees and migrants in Polykastro, upcycling and crafting with young adults in Luxembourg, renovating a house of interculturality in Marseille, and turning art into social impact in Almerรญa.
Whoever you are, something here fits. Drawn to education and digital skills? There are teaching, teacher-training and ICT placements across Uganda and Ghana. Pulled toward social care and inclusion? There are placements with unaccompanied minors, young girls, refugees and young people not in education or employment. Into climate, enterprise and data? There are roles in climate adaptation, vocational skills, women's economic empowerment and humanitarian data analysis. More of a culture and creativity person? Nantes, Almerรญa, Luxembourg and a French high school all want you. A quick word on eligibility so there are no surprises: ten of these are standard ESC placements for ages 18 to 30, while the eight in Senegal, Uganda and Ghana fall under the ESC Humanitarian Aid strand, which is open up to age 35. Most welcome applicants from across Europe and its neighbours, but a few are reserved for residents of a single country, so read the eligibility line on each before you apply. The deadlines are the pressure point, with the first ones landing on 22 August, so if a placement speaks to you, move today.

Eighteen fully funded placements, nine countries, two continents, and a real chance to spend your autumn doing something that matters. If you scrolled this far, one of them already caught you, whether it was the data and climate work across Senegal and Ghana, the education and digital-skills placements in Uganda, the deeply human care roles in Genoa and Nantes, or the hands-on pull of renovation in Marseille and upcycling in Luxembourg. The two things that shape your shortlist are eligibility and timing. Ten placements are standard ESC for ages 18 to 30, while the eight in Senegal, Uganda and Ghana are Humanitarian Aid roles open up to 35, and a handful are reserved for residents of one country, so check each listing carefully. If you have never done this before, you will need to register on the ESC Portal to apply, and a specific, well-prepared motivation letter is often what gets you selected. On timing, the list is ordered soonest-first for a reason: the first deadlines fall on 22 August and a large group closes on 31 August, so waiting rarely helps when strong projects fill early. Do one concrete thing today: pick the placement that fits you, open its link, check the dates and eligibility, and send your application. And if you want rounds like this to reach you the moment they open, rather than scrolling dozens at once, join our broadcast channel through the link in our bio, where we share every new batch first.
