If you are a student or a recent graduate, an Erasmus+ traineeship is one of the easiest ways to get real work experience abroad with funding behind you, and most people do not realise how many placements are out there. Here is a quick refresher on how it works, followed by 30 that are open right now.
An Erasmus+ traineeship is a funded work placement at an organisation in another participating country, lasting anywhere from 2 to 12 months. It is open to students at a higher education institution that takes part in Erasmus+, from bachelor to master and PhD level, and to recent graduates who apply within 12 months of finishing (you usually need to be selected while still enrolled). You apply through your own university's Erasmus or International Office, before the traineeship begins, and the grant is roughly 350 to 700 euro a month depending on the destination country, paid in two installments. The host can be a company, NGO, institute or public body, and some of them pay you an extra stipend on top of the grant.
These 30 placements span 14 countries and cover digital marketing and media, software and web development, HR and recruitment, hospitality and tourism, education, libraries, science communication and even artistic metalwork. From building web apps at a social enterprise in Utrecht and producing video for the Greek startup scene to designing a diagnostic breath sensor in Amsterdam and shaping metal sculpture in Porto, there is a placement here for almost every field. The earliest closes on 5 August, so start at the top.
Because these run through Erasmus+, the traineeship grant is arranged through your university and paid by distance and destination, not by the host. On top of that, several hosts add their own pay: 900 euro a month plus meals and transport in France, a 600 euro completion gift in the Netherlands, and paid media and content roles in Germany, Italy, Spain and beyond. Others offer the grant only, and a couple include free accommodation. Deadlines run from 5 August to 3 December 2026.
