🔷 Activity Details

Description

Are you ready to be a catalyst for real social change by actively contributing to the economic and social empowerment of women? Join KoCDA and its partner Mondo in this unique, hands-on opportunity at the heart of Kongo in Ghana’s Upper East region. You will participate in innovative empowerment programs focused on supporting women’s economic activities such as shea butter production, basket weaving, and cloth weaving. Your role will be to help strengthen women’s skills, build lasting cooperatives, and foster sustainable economic independence. Additionally, you will engage with school-age children in the community, creating an intergenerational impact and promoting inclusive development rooted in cultural understanding. A key part of your mission will be to open new European markets for these artisanal products, creating economic opportunities and building strong bridges between local communities and international buyers.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be warmly hosted at the NDAHA Guesthouse, where they will enjoy private, lockable rooms equipped with their own bathroom and shower for comfort and security. Electricity and running water are reliably available. Volunteers can prepare their own meals using the shared kitchen facilities, including a refrigerator and kitchen cabinets. Fresh, abundant tropical fruits, vegetables, and local produce are easily accessible. For daily transportation, local options such as minibuses, motorbikes, and tricycles are used, offering an authentic immersion into rural Ghanaian life.

Training during the activity

As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills.

Participant profile

We are seeking a volunteer with excellent organizational skills who thrives in planning and leading engaging workshops and seminars. A deep sensitivity to women’s empowerment and financial independence is essential. The ideal candidate will guide the creation and strengthening of women’s cooperatives with professionalism and respect for local cultures and values. Your mission will be to transfer valuable, long-lasting skills that enable women to become independent economic and social actors in their communities, through a respectful and collaborative approach.
