Volunteer abroad fully funded this autumn: 22 European Solidarity Corps placements are open right now across 15 countries and three continents. Every one is fully funded, and if you are not sure what the European Solidarity Corps is or whether ESC volunteering is really fully funded, the short version is this: the EU pays young people to volunteer on solidarity projects, covering travel, accommodation, food, insurance and a monthly allowance. This batch is unusually far-reaching. You could be teaching digital skills to communities in Kisumu, Kenya, training displaced youth and women to start businesses in Georgia, supporting children with special needs in Kampala, running women's financial and digital literacy in Tamale, Ghana, or designing events with a youth organisation in Cairo. Closer to home, there is off-grid animal care in a forest inside Eindhoven, a farmhouse restoration in Piemonte, refugee and migrant support in Genoa, care for isolated elderly people near Paris, and youth-centre, kindergarten and school placements dotted across Bulgaria, Latvia, Romania, Lithuania, Poland, Spain and Slovakia.
Whoever you are, there is an angle here. Drawn to social care and inclusion? There are placements with children with special needs, at-risk youth, refugees, isolated elderly people and children in high-risk contexts. Into digital and enterprise? There are ICT, digital-literacy and entrepreneurship roles across Uganda, Ghana, Kenya and Georgia. Hands-on and outdoorsy? There is off-grid living in the Netherlands and farmhouse renovation in Italy. Several of the placements beyond Europe, Egypt, Georgia, Uganda, Ghana and Kenya, sit under the ESC Humanitarian Aid strand, which is open up to age 35. Durations range from a few weeks to ten months, and while most welcome applicants from across Europe and its neighbours, a few are reserved for residents of a single country, so read the eligibility line on each before you apply.

Twenty-two fully funded ESC placements, fifteen countries, three continents, and a real chance to make this autumn count. If you scrolled this far, something already caught you, whether it was the digital-skills and entrepreneurship work across Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Georgia, the deeply human care placements with children with special needs, refugees, at-risk youth and isolated elderly people, or the hands-on pull of off-grid living in Eindhoven and a farmhouse restoration in Piemonte. This round is especially strong for anyone drawn to digital empowerment and social care, but it has real depth for creatives and the outdoorsy too. The two things that shape your shortlist are duration and eligibility: some placements are only a few weeks while others run ten months, and while most welcome applicants from across Europe and its neighbours, a few are open only to residents of a single country. On timing, the list is ordered soonest-first for a reason.
