Description

We invite a young person from Europe to join the community of Miroslavo Gymnasium and spend 10 months in Lithuania as part of a European Solidarity Corps volunteering project.The volunteer will take part in the daily activities of the school and kindergarten, communicate with children and young people, support non-formal education activities and help organise creative, sports and cultural activities. An important part of the project is communication with the whole school community. The volunteer will cooperate with teachers, school administration, pupils and other members of the community. The volunteer will be encouraged to be themselves and use their strongest qualities, interests, skills, knowledge and qualifications.Activities can be adapted according to the volunteer's interests and abilities. Possible activities include English or other language activities, cultural presentations, art, music, sports, games, outdoor activities.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will receive accommodation and financial support for food and daily expenses according to the rules of the European Solidarity Corps programme.

Travel support will also be provided according to the programme's applicable travel rates.

We will support the volunteer throughout the whole experience, from arrival in Lithuania until returning home. The volunteer will have a mentor and will be able to contact responsible members of the organisation whenever they need practical, social or project-related support.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will participate in the training activities provided by the European Solidarity Corps programme and will receive the information and support needed to start and continue the volunteering experience successfully.

At the school, the volunteer will also be introduced to the organisation of daily activities, different age groups, school rules and the principles of safe work with children.

Participant profile

We are looking for an open-minded, responsible, friendly and motivated person who is interested in working and communicating with children and young people.

A willingness to learn, cooperate and contribute to the school community is important. Previous experience with children would be an advantage, but it is not required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • is communicative and willing to interact with others;
  • can work as part of a team;
  • is patient and responsible;
  • is not afraid to suggest their own ideas;
  • would like to share their culture and language;
  • is interested in education and non-formal learning;
  • can use their interests or talents in activities;
  • respects other people and different cultures;
  • is interested in experiencing life in a smaller Lithuanian community.

The volunteer does not need to be a professional teacher. The most important qualities are motivation, responsibility, willingness to learn and a genuine interest in becoming an active member of the school community.
