🔷 Activity Details

Description

The volunteer will play a key role in facilitating knowledge building and sharing among UPA staff by conducting targeted trainings on digital skills, communication, and marketing strategies tailored for social media platforms. In addition to managing and upgrading UPA’s digital platforms to boost online engagement, the role involves building capacity through ICT training sessions for UPA staff and local partner organizations such as schools and community-based organizations. These efforts strengthen digital communication and marketing strategies, empowering teams to effectively leverage technology to enhance their work and outreach. The volunteer will contribute to fostering sustainable digital development within the community, supported by the partnership with Mondo.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will stay at Villa Mamu, Mengo, Kampala, a spacious compound with WiFi, warm showers, kitchen facilities for self-catering, and pets to make the stay homely. To immerse more deeply into the local culture, volunteers will spend some days living with a host family near Kikooba School. Other accommodation options can be arranged in Kampala based on safety, convenience, and security considerations. Local transport primarily consists of boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis), which provide fast and flexible movement within the community.

Training during the activity

As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills.
