🔷 Activity Details

Description

This is a volunteering opportunity in LATVIA, Gulbene region, hosted by Youth center “Bāze”. Gulbene region is a small place that is located 3 hour drive away from the capital - where opportunities for youth and local groups are limited. While our community lives in harmony, true balance requires movement and fresh perspectives to prevent standing still. Harmony for Change 3.0 bridges this gap by hosting international volunteers who bring wild creativity, unexpected ideas and dynamic energy into the peaceful environment. By combining our grounded local life with their bold, cross-cultural initiatives, we create a lively exchange that disrupts the routine and inspires meaningful, lasting change in our community. The project focuses on solidarity among European volunteers, the youth, Youth center "Bāze" team and the local community, creating opportunities for collaboration toward shared goals while allowing everyone to learn from one another.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Gulbene region is small in population, but it has everything for comfortable living - shops, library, cultural center, sports facilities, beautiful green spaces and a strong sense of community, making it a peaceful, well-equipped place to call home. The volunteer has two travel options: travel in a green way (take a bus, train or drive by car) or take a plane (Destination - RIGA). "Bāze" will help with the transport to Gulbene. Accommodation is in two room apartment in Gulbene, the project covers all expenses (utilities, food, pocket money, travel, meterials for the activities, etc.).

Training during the activity

The volunteer will have a mentor for the whole time of the activity, who will help them understand the competencies of Youthpass and will motivate and help with the overall learning process. Our National Agency provides on-arrival training and mid-term training for long term volunteers. And, of course, our organization provides a learning opportunity to achieve skills and knowledge of a youth worker, supports language learning and allows the volunteer to achieve their personal learning goals.

Participant profile

Our organization will be happy to offer this opportunity to someone who wants to learn about youth work—someone who loves spending time with youngsters and kids and wants to learn how to prepare and implement activities in a youth center's daily work. We are looking for a volunteer who would like to share their best qualities and individual skills with young people, while improving those skills along the way. We greatly value volunteer initiative, empathy, helpfulness, and flexibility, as youth work is unpredictable and driven by the youngsters' wants and needs. The Harmony for Change 3.0 project aims to achieve three main goals: inclusion and diversity, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation. If you're passionate about making a difference in any of these areas, we’d love to have you as a volunteer!
