Few organisations carry the weight of history the way the Anne Frank House does. Based at Westermarkt 10 in Amsterdam, it tells the story of Anne Frank and the history of her time โ and makes that history relevant for today. The Anne Frank House is looking for 3 ESC volunteers to join its educational team and contribute directly to the Anne Frank Youth Network (AFYN), an international network of young people committed to standing up against discrimination and for human rights.
๐๏ธ About the Anne Frank House
The Anne Frank House (AFH) is one of the world’s most visited and most recognised historical and educational institutions. Its educational outreach work reaches young people across the Netherlands and internationally โ through the Anne Frank Youth Network, the Stories that Move (StM) programme, and a range of non-formal educational activities designed to make history a living, relevant force for change.
๐ฏ The Role
As an ESC volunteer, you’ll be primarily supporting the Anne Frank Youth Network and occasionally assisting with Stories that Move. The daily work is varied, meaningful, and genuinely connected to the AFH’s educational mission:
๐ฑ Managing and creating content for social media channels
๐ Keeping in touch with Dutch and international AFYN members
๐ Conducting research in support of educational programmes
๐ Preparing workshops for young people in non-formal educational settings
๐ค Providing practical assistance to the educational team
๐ What the Anne Frank House Provides
๐ A studio apartment with private kitchen and bathroom, approximately 4 km from the office โ for individual use
๐ถ A monthly instalment of โฌ500
๐ฃ๏ธ The standard ESC language course at the start of the service
๐ Introduction to the educational concepts and methods of the AFH
๐ฅ Training on how to work in a project team
๐ค Who Should Apply
The Anne Frank House is looking for volunteers who:
๐๏ธ Have good organisational skills
๐ฑ Know how to work with social media at a professional level
๐ Enjoy educational work with young people, especially in non-formal settings
๐ฃ๏ธ Feel comfortable working in English
โค๏ธ Identify with the goals and pedagogical approach of the Anne Frank House
