Tearfund is a UK-based international humanitarian and development organisation working in some of the world’s most challenging contexts. Their Nigeria country team works across communications, advocacy, and development programmes โ and this internship places you right inside that operation.
๐ฏ Role Purpose
The Communications Intern will support the Nigeria country team in delivering Tearfund’s communications activities โ from storytelling and content creation to media monitoring and strategic communication planning. This is a substantive role with real mentorship and genuine exposure to how a major humanitarian organisation communicates its work.
๐ Key Responsibilities
๐ธ Support the production of stories, photos, and videos that highlight Tearfund’s work and impact
๐ฑ Assist with social media content, newsletters, and website updates
๐ Support media monitoring and prepare basic communications reports when needed
๐ช Help organise events, campaigns, and visibility activities
๐ง Learn from and assist the Communications Unit in strategic communication planning
โ๏ธ Support the development of content for campaigns and donor communications
๐ง What You’ll Learn

โ Who Should Apply
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing or has recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, and brings:
โ๏ธ Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
๐ A genuine interest in humanitarian, development, or faith-based work
๐ Alignment with Tearfund’s Christian values and ethical standards โ including commitment to an Evangelical Christian church and the ability to communicate confidently about personal faith
๐ฃ๏ธ Oral and written proficiency in the primary working local language
๐ป Computer literacy โ experience with Word, Excel, and preferably accounting software such as Peachtree
๐ฏ Strong organisational, scheduling, and investigative abilities
๐ค A calm, confident, assertive, and welcoming manner with good interpersonal skills
Desirable skills:
๐จ Basic photography, graphic design, and video editing skills
๐ฑ Familiarity with social media management
๐ฃ๏ธ Knowledge of Nigerian languages (Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo) is an advantage
๐ถ Compensation
Monthly stipend of NGN 77,000
