Sports, arts, crafts, excursions, weekend activities, and a student kiosk. Schule Marienau is not a typical school โ€” it’s a living, breathing community, and they’re looking for an ESC volunteer who wants to be genuinely part of it.

๐Ÿซ About Schule Marienau

Schule Marienau is a boarding and day school located in Dahlem-Marienau, northern Germany, where around 220 pupils with various international backgrounds live and learn together. The majority of staff also live on the school grounds with their families โ€” creating a close-knit, residential community that extends well beyond regular lessons. Pupils participate in a wide range of activities in sports, handcraft, and arts alongside their academic studies.

๐ŸŽฏ The Role

As an ESC volunteer, you’ll be supporting the school’s educational staff across a wide variety of day-to-day tasks in the boarding school environment. The work is varied, social, and directly connected to the lives of the young people at Marienau.

๐Ÿ“‹ What You’ll Do

๐Ÿ  Support boarding school supervision during daily routines

๐Ÿ“š Assist in the preparation of homework for pupils

๐ŸŽจ Support the implementation of leisure courses and activities โ€” sports, arts, crafts

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Help organise leisure activities on boarding school weekends

๐ŸŒ Assist in looking after international students, including during short holidays

๐Ÿš— Support student transport as needed

๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Help with the preparation, planning, and accompanying of excursions and school trips

๐Ÿ›’ Assist with the student kiosk

๐Ÿ“ฐ Support the student newspaper

๐ŸŽ What Schule Marienau Provides

๐Ÿ  A single room in a shared apartment in the school dormitory โ€” shared kitchen and bathroom

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Canteen meals during working hours โ€” meal allowance paid in cash during the 26 holiday days, plus food money for 8 days per month (weekends)

๐ŸšŒ Deutschlandticket โ€” monthly public transport pass valid across all of Germany, with bus access to the next train station in Lรผneburg

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ At least one German language course plus the online OLS language course

๐Ÿ“‹ Regular team meetings and one-on-one meetings with a personal tutor

๐ŸŽ“ Two obligatory trainings organised by the German National Agency, plus one workshop by coordinating organisation VIA e.V.

๐ŸŽช Opportunity to participate in school events and excursions

๐Ÿ‘ค Who Should Apply

Schule Marienau is looking for volunteers who:

๐Ÿ”ž Are at least 20 years old โ€” required due to the age of the students

๐Ÿƒ Are sporty and communicative

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Have English and/or German language skills โ€” French or Spanish is a welcome bonus

๐Ÿš— Hold an international driving licence with driving experience โ€” this is described as very important
