Humanitarian work doesn’t speak for itself. Behind every campaign, every social post, every photo that makes someone stop and pay attention — there’s someone who made that communication happen. Merhamet Sandžak is a Muslim humanitarian organisation based in Novi Pazar, Serbia, and they’re looking for an ESC volunteer to take on exactly that role: building visibility, documenting impact, and strengthening public trust in their humanitarian and development mission.

🏢 About Merhamet Sandžak

Merhamet Sandžak is a Muslim humanitarian organisation providing social and humanitarian support to vulnerable individuals and families in the Sandžak region of Serbia. Their work spans social challenges, refugee and migrant integration, disaster preparedness, health, education, and more. The Communications & Media Volunteer will be central to how this work is seen and understood by the public.

🎯 The Role

This is a strategic communications role — not just content posting. You’ll be developing and implementing communication strategies, managing social media channels, producing photo and video content in the field, and tracking the performance of PR campaigns. The work is varied, visible, and directly connected to the organisation’s humanitarian mission.

📋 Responsibilities

📋 Develop and implement communication strategies — including message crafting and channel selection

📱 Manage social media channels — creating content, posting updates, engaging with followers, and maintaining brand consistency

📸 Capture photo and video materials documenting the organisation’s activities and events

📊 Track and analyse PR campaign results and adjust strategies as needed

🎁 What Merhamet Sandžak Provides

🏠 A lockable, safe apartment with bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom in the city centre near the office

💶 A monthly allowance of €500 to cover meals and daily expenses

📚 Pre-departure training to prepare for the opportunity

🌍 On-arrival training introducing the volunteer to the host country

🛡️ Code of Conduct orientation and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults training

🗂️ Training in Project Cycle Management for better understanding of programming and activities

🎓 Opportunity to participate in other Merhamet capacity-building activities

👤 Who Should Apply

Merhamet is looking for a creative and communicative individual with a background or strong interest in:

📣 Communications, marketing, journalism, media, or a related field

📸 Experience in social media management, content creation, or photo and video production is an advantage

🌍 Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment and adapting messages for diverse audiences

🔍 Proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about using storytelling and digital tools for humanitarian work
