Are you a musician or performing artist with a live production designed for young audiences — and ready to put it in front of the most important bookers, producers, and organisers in the young audience music world? YAMsession 2026 is calling for showcase performances to be presented at the annual international young audiences music event in Helsingør, Denmark. Selected artists perform a 30-minute showcase in front of an international professional audience, gain exposure to global booking opportunities, attend the full YAMsession programme for free, and have all local expenses covered. Travel is partially reimbursed at €100 per artist. Open to solo artists and groups of up to 5 performers, aged 18 and above, with advanced or professional-level skills. Deadline: 15 March 2026 at 23:59 CET.
🏰 Did You Know? Helsingør — also known as Elsinore — is the Danish city famously associated with Shakespeare’s Hamlet, whose fictional castle Elsinore is based on the real Kronborg Castle there. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kronborg sits at the narrowest point of the strait between Denmark and Sweden, just 4 kilometres of water separating the two countries.
What Is YAMsession?
🌍An annual international event for creative professionals working in young audience music — producers, bookers, organisers, researchers, and artists — that takes place in a different country every year
🎭Features live showcase performances of the best young audience music productions from Europe and the world, selected through an open call
🗣️Includes a dynamic Producers Forum and a wide range of presentations and discussions from international speakers on young audience arts development
🏆Culminates in the YAMawards Ceremony — where the best music productions for young audiences worldwide are recognised and celebrated
🤝One of the most effective international showcasing platforms for artists making music for children and young people — past participants report significant increases in international concert bookings following their showcase
🎶 Did You Know? YAMsession — Young Audiences Music Session — is organised by JM International (JMI), the global network for music and young audiences, which connects organisations in over 40 countries dedicated to bringing live music experiences to children and young people. A YAMsession showcase puts your production in front of decision-makers from across this entire global network.
What Does a Showcase Include?
⏱️Each showcase is exactly 30 minutes in duration — no more, no less
👥A maximum of 5 artists or performers per production
🏫The production must be adaptable to tour both in school settings and in traditional performance venues — versatility is key
📄A technical rider and stage plan must be submitted at the time of application
🎟️All showcasing productions receive free participation in the full YAMsession event programme — including the Producers Forum, presentations, and YAMawards Ceremony
Benefits & Costs
🏠All local expenses on the day of the performance are fully covered — accommodation and meals provided for all performing artists
✈️Travel to Helsingør is partially reimbursed as a lump sum of €100 per artist — full travel costs are the responsibility of the artists; artists are encouraged to contact their local JMI member organisations or government agencies for additional travel support
🎟️Free access to the entire YAMsession event for all members of the showcasing production
⚠️Note: applying for a YAMsession showcase is separate from submitting a YAMawards application — if you wish to be considered for the awards, a separate application must be made
Who Can Apply?
🎤Solo artists or groups of up to 5 performers with a live music production specifically designed for young audiences
🎂All artists must be 18 years of age or older
⭐Advanced or professional skill level required — this is an international professional showcasing event, not a beginner’s platform
🗣️Proficiency in English is required for participation in the broader event programme
🌍Open to artists from all countries worldwide
