What Will You Do as a Volunteer?

🌲 Become an active part of the community, caring for the village structure, its inhabitants, and the local surroundings

👧 Support school camps, summer camps, environmental trainings, yoga retreats, and other guest programmes

🌱 Contribute to organic and permaculture gardening, foraging, and local plant knowledge

🏚️ Help with the cleaning, upkeep, low-budget construction, maintenance, and renovation of rural structures

♻️ Learn and apply circular economy and closed-loop system principles in daily community life

🍳 Assist with Sicilian recipe preparation and low-waste cooking for guests and community members

🌍 Engage with local producers, explore natural areas, and connect with the local culture and community

🇷🇴 ESC Volunteering in Romania 🌿 Permaculture & Sustainable Living in a Rural Carpathian Community 🇷🇴

Accommodation, Food & Travel

🏡 You will live in a 3-bedroom structure shared with other volunteers, with a maximum of 2 volunteers per room

🚿 A shared bathroom and kitchen are available, shared with guests and community members as needed

🌡️ There is no air conditioning — heating in winter is provided by a wood stove

🥗 Meals are mainly vegetarian, local, seasonal, and organic, usually prepared by staff and shared with guests

🛒 Staff purchase breakfast items and any additional food needed for volunteers on a weekly basis

🚌 Volunteers are encouraged to arrive using green travel — there is a bus stop 45 minutes on foot from the nearby village, connecting to the train station

Participant Profile

💚 You have strong personal motivation to engage in community living and take initiative and responsibility

🏕️ You are able to live with fewer comforts in a rural setting and adapt to a different cultural environment

🔧 You are flexible, a good problem solver, and willing to do any kind of work even in challenging situations

🌾 Experience in practical work, cleaning, and gardening is a plus but not required

🤩 You are enthusiastic about what each day has to offer and eager to connect with local producers, nature, and community members
