🌟 About the Opportunity
This ESC volunteering experience takes place at Altérez-Vous, a vibrant citizen café-restaurant and social cooperative in Louvain-la-Neuve 🇧🇪. Known for its warm atmosphere, socially responsible consumption, and strong focus on civic engagement, the café brings together students, locals, artists, activists, and community members. It is a meeting place for creativity, sustainability, cultural exchange, and collective awareness. Volunteers become part of an inspiring, youth-driven environment where culture and social impact meet every day.
🎨🎶 Main Activities
Volunteers will take part in a rich variety of creative, cultural and social responsibilities, including:
✨ Helping organise and promote events (board game nights, concerts, open stages, workshops, discussion groups)
📸 Taking photos, promoting activities on social media, especially Facebook
🎭 Supporting thematic soirées, cultural evenings, and exhibitions
🌍 Assisting with intercultural activities and designing new event ideas
💬 Supporting the café’s mission of raising awareness on social issues
🥗 Contributing to responsible consumption initiatives (local, seasonal, organic, fair-trade products)
📝 Helping with content writing, visual materials, communication and storytelling
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys culture, design, photography, social impact, activism, and community building.

🏡 Accommodation, Food & Transport
Volunteers will be hosted:
🏠 Either in a shared flat with other people
🏘️ Or in a private room with a local host family
Louvain-la-Neuve is a fully pedestrian student city, meaning:
🚶 Everything is reachable by foot
🚌 No need for public transport to reach the café
🧺 Volunteers receive monthly food allowance + pocket money
🎓 Training & Learning
Volunteers will participate in:
📘 On-Arrival Training by the National Agency
📙 Mid-Term Training
And will receive continuous support for developing communication, event management, photography and social engagement skills.

👤 Participant Profile
The ideal volunteer is someone who:
💛 Is passionate about social issues, culture, and civic engagement
🎨 Has a strong interest in communication, photography, content creation, or event promotion
📚 Enjoys writing, storytelling, or supporting workshops
🤝 Is flexible, open-minded, organised, autonomous, dynamic and joyful
🌍 Has team spirit, adaptability, and initiative
🗣️ Speaks French fluently (a strong advantage)
✨ Bonus: Experience in project management, event animation, or cultural activities
