Sumgait is not on most volunteers’ radar โ and that is exactly what makes this placement interesting. A year of real environmental work, genuine community engagement, and a chance to be part of something that actually matters in a country few ESC volunteers ever reach.
Common Sense Youth Organisation (CSYO) works to increase youth participation in society and create meaningful opportunities for self-development. Their “We Need to Act” project channels that mission into environmental action โ empowering volunteers to take concrete steps toward a greener future while raising awareness among young people and school children across Sumgait.
This placement is organised in partnership with sending organisation ICJA โ Freiwilligenaustausch Weltweit and is open to participants from Germany only.
What Is This Role About?
CSYO’s environmental focus is not just theoretical. You will be working hands-on โ in schools, in eco clubs, in the community โ helping to build green thinking and civic responsibility among young people. Your own ideas are genuinely welcome here: CSYO explicitly encourages volunteers to bring and realise their own initiatives as part of the “Green Thinking” team.
