Join the Department of Global Communications (DGC) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York as a Social Media Intern (Portuguese) and gain hands-on experience in digital communication at one of the worldโs most influential international organisations.
This six-month hybrid internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the UNโs global communication strategies, support multilingual outreach, and help create engaging content for millions of followers across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter).
Youโll be part of the Social Media Section, Communications Campaigns Service, collaborating with communication professionals to promote UN values, events, and campaigns in the Portuguese-speaking world. ๐๐ฑ
๐ฏ Main Responsibilities
๐ฌ Research, draft, and edit social media content in English and Portuguese
๐ธ Gather and curate multimedia content at UN events (film screenings, exhibitions, concerts, etc.)
๐ Monitor and analyse performance statistics for digital content
๐จ Create original visual materials using Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, or Adobe Photoshop
๐๏ธ Manage meeting agendas and draft notes
๐ค Support special communication projects and assist the digital campaigns team

๐ Qualifications
๐ Enrolled in, or recently completed:
- Aย graduate degreeย (Masterโs or equivalent), or
- Theย final year of a Bachelorโs degreeย (minimum requirement)
๐ก Skills & Experience:
- Fluency inย English and Portugueseย (required)
- Experience withย graphic design toolsย such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, or Adobe Photoshop
- Interest or experience inย photography and digital storytelling
- Strong written communication skills and creativity under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated interest in theย work of the United Nations
