🌟 About the Project
The project focuses on empowering children aged 2+ with additional needs, including Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and communication disorders. Volunteers will contribute to children’s independence, well-being, and inclusion through care, therapies, and creative engagement.
Main tasks include:
- Supporting daily care & assistance at the center 👩👧
- Helping children with basic skills, hygiene & sanitation 🚿
- Offering early childhood development lessons 📚
- Assisting in occupational, speech & physiotherapy sessions 🧩
- Conducting community visits to assist families 🏘️
- Organising games & sports to discover children’s talents ⚽🎨
🏠 Accommodation, Food & Allowance
- Shared apartment with other volunteers (private lockable bedroom) 🏡
- Monthly allowance covering food, transport & communication 💶
- Daily commute (20–50 mins) to the project site by public transport 🚐
- Local transport: Matatus (minibuses) and Boda Bodas (motorbikes) 🚲
🎓 Training & Support
- Online pre-departure training before arrival
- In-person induction in Kampala
- Financial support for local language learning 🌍
👤 Participant Profile
We are looking for motivated volunteers who are:
- Passionate about working with children 💙
- Friendly, cheerful, and creative 🎨
- Open-minded, resilient, and adaptable ✨
- Experienced in youth work or social work (desirable, not mandatory)
- Proficient in English ✅
