At Youth Works Hub, we have gathered 61 fully funded ESC volunteering placements in 22 countries, all closing between 5 and 11 October 2026. Every placement in this deadline alert belongs to the European Solidarity Corps, the EU programme that lets young people aged 18 to 30 volunteer abroad, and every application window shuts within the same seven days. Italy and Romania lead with eight placements each, followed by Belgium and Portugal with six each. The rest of the list covers Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Kosovo, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain and Türkiye, and reaches further out to Argentina, Georgia, Guatemala, Mozambique, Senegal and Uganda. The work is just as varied: children's centres, schools, nature conservation sites, Red Cross branches, youth houses, rural farms and humanitarian offices. If you are a student, a recent graduate, on a gap year or simply ready to spend time abroad doing something useful, the list is worth reading from top to bottom. A few placements stand out. In Croatia, volunteers restore traditional dry-stone walls and flooded meadows in a wetland nature park and learn UNESCO recognised heritage techniques along the way. In Portugal, a placement with the Portuguese Red Cross moves between food bank logistics, a nursing home, a rehabilitation centre, a primary school and a permaculture farm. Denmark offers a place at a Danish folk high school, where the volunteer becomes part of the school's daily rhythm rather than a guest passing through. In Mozambique, a humanitarian procurement and logistics role shows how an international organisation tracks supplies, equipment, vehicles and stock from the inside. Guatemala has a safeguarding and PSEAH support role in humanitarian action, helping build the policy, train staff and partners and keep the reporting structure alive in the field. In Spain, a fablab brings 3D printing, laser cutting and design thinking to rural youth. Uganda has three placements covering inclusive education for children with special needs, teacher development and digital empowerment training. In Italy, a bird monitoring placement at a nature oasis combines habitat conservation with environmental education. Funding
Every ESC volunteering placement in this list is fully funded: the European Solidarity Corps covers travel, accommodation, food, pocket money and insurance for selected volunteers, and none of the 61 listings mentions a participation fee. The deadline pressure is heaviest at the start and the end of the week: 18 placements close on 5 October, 16 on 10 October and 11 on 11 October, with the remaining 16 spread between 6 and 9 October.

If you only have time for one application today, start with the 18 placements that close on 5 October, including six in Belgium where volunteers facilitate inclusive youth activities, run creative workshops with people with disabilities and help prepare local workcamps. On 7 October, six of the seven closing placements are in Romania, all working with children and teenagers and covering cultural awareness and homework help, behind-the-scenes NGO support, handcraft, social media, music and storytelling, and sports and dance. In Kosovo, volunteers plant trees and work on a brand new learning space for local kids, while in Poland a bilingual Montessori school gives a volunteer a real place in everyday classroom life. On 10 and 11 October the focus moves further afield, with Argentina, Georgia, Guatemala, Senegal, Serbia and Uganda closing on those two days. The roles there include communications and advocacy on migrant issues, entrepreneurship training for displaced youth and women, administrative support at a humanitarian office and project assistance for social inclusion. Eligibility differs from one ESC listing to the next, so check it before you apply. Most placements are open to applicants from several countries, but four placements are open only to residents of a single country: three to residents of Italy and one to residents of France.
