🇧🇬 ESC Volunteering in Bulgaria 🌱 Youth Empowerment Project: Sustainability, Erasmus+ Outreach and Community Action with ABS 🚀

If you’re 18–24, motivated, and looking for an ESC placement where you can actually develop your own project idea from scratch — Active Bulgarian Society (ABS) in Bulgaria has a placement that gives you the space to do exactly that. From sustainability campaigns and art clubs to social media content and Erasmus+ outreach, this is a hands-on, initiative-driven volunteering experience in the heart of Blagoevgrad.

🏢 About Active Bulgarian Society

ABS is a youth organisation working to empower young people and promote sustainability, eco-friendly initiatives, and European values in Bulgaria. Their office is based in a vibrant co-working space inside the town’s mall — a modern, collaborative environment that reflects their approach to youth work.

🎯 The Role

As an ESC volunteer, you’ll be contributing across four main areas: event organisation, Erasmus+ and ESC promotion, social media and communication, and your own independent community project. The role rewards initiative — the more you bring, the more you’ll get out of it.

📋 What You’ll Do

🎪 Organise events and campaigns — clean-ups, art clubs, DIY sustainability projects, and more

📣 Promote ESC and Erasmus+ — info sessions, school visits, and creative outreach activities

📱 Social media and communication — create content, write articles, and share ABS initiatives

💡 Develop your own project — turn your idea into a real community initiative

🧠 Training Provided

📚 On-Arrival Training organised by the Bulgarian National Agency covering ESC essentials

🏛️ ABS Orientation — goals, vision, mission, long-term projects, and work culture

🛠️ Skills development in:

💻 Website management

🎨 Photo editing and design — Canva and other tools

📱 Social media content creation and strategy

📢 Non-formal education and volunteering

🤝 Team meetings, brainstorming, and buddy group support system

🎁 What the Project Provides

🏠 100% covered accommodation — rent, utilities (water, electricity, heating), and housing costs fully funded

🏡 Cosy shared apartment with all essentials and a kitchen, shared with another volunteer of the same gender

💶 Monthly allowance for food and pocket money

📍 Great location — just 10–15 minutes’ walk from the city centre and ABS office

👤 Who Should Apply

🔞 Aged 18–24

🌍 From any EU country or eligible sending country

🗣️ Basic English communication skills

🚀 Motivated, proactive, and eager to take initiative

🌏 Open to working in an intercultural environment

🤝 Adaptable, team-oriented, and ready for new challenges

🎨 Experience in organising workshops or activities is a plus — but willingness to learn is enough

💙 ABS strongly encourages applications from young people facing economic, geographical, or educational obstacles, as well as individuals with cultural differences, disabilities, health issues, or refugee backgrounds.
