About the Opportunity
This European Solidarity Corps individual volunteering project is hosted by End Female Genital Mutilation โ European Network in Belgium. The volunteer will join the Communications Department of the Network and actively support the visibility, advocacy, and communication work of community-based organisations across Europe that are working to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and support survivors. The project is deeply rooted in human rights, gender equality, intersectionality, and community engagement.
What Will You Do?
๐ Map community-based organisations and activists working against FGM in Europe
๐ค Interview community members and activists and synthesise their inputs
๐ฃ Promote the work of community-based organisations through online platforms
๐ฑ Support the Networkโs social media presence and content creation
๐ Contribute to posts, stories, articles, and campaign materials
๐ฐ Support the preparation and dissemination of the quarterly newsletter
๐ข Assist with communication strategies for events and advocacy campaigns
๐ Support communication with Members and Ambassadors via international channels
๐ก Propose creative ideas to raise awareness among young people
Accommodation & Practical Arrangements
๐ Monthly allowance covering housing and food
๐ถ Monthly pocket money according to ESC rules
โ๏ธ Travel costs to Belgium covered via distance-based lump sum
๐ Local transport costs covered during the activity
Training & Learning Support
๐ On-arrival training with other European Solidarity Corps volunteers
๐งญ Internal trainings by End FGM EU on communication strategy, intersectionality, and community engagement
๐ค Continuous learning opportunities through collaboration with Network members
Participant Profile
๐ Aged 18โ30
๐ Living in Europe and originating from an FGM-affected community or with strong personal/professional interest in ending FGM
๐ฃ๏ธ Very good English skills (spoken and written), French is an asset
โ๏ธ Strong interest or knowledge in gender equality, gender-based violence, and human rights
๐ง Sensitive and informed understanding of cultural and gender dimensions of FGM
โค๏ธ Commitment to decolonial, intersectional, and anti-discrimination values
๐ Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
๐ฅ Motivated to work in advocacy, fast-paced environments, and meaningful social change
