๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Volunteering in Poland with the European Solidarity Corps โ€“ Sametโ€™s Journey of Kindness & Growth ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ’™

By Samet, 23 โ€“ Tรผrkiye ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท

When I first received the message saying โ€œYouโ€™ve been selected!โ€, I could hardly believe it.
Ten months in Poland ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) โ€” it felt like a dream! ๐ŸŒโœจ

At first, I was nervous. A new country, a new culture, a new languageโ€ฆ but also a new version of me waiting to be discovered.

๐Ÿฒ Cooking for Change โ€“ A Kitchen with a Purpose

My project took place in a local community center that provided daily meals for people in need.
Every day, our international volunteer team cooked, served, and shared food with the local community. ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ›๐Ÿž

The atmosphere was full of warmth and laughter โ€” despite the challenges, it always felt meaningful. ๐Ÿ’ฌ
I learned that solidarity isnโ€™t just about big actions โ€” itโ€™s about small moments of care: serving a meal, listening to someoneโ€™s story, or making them smile. ๐Ÿ’™

Working side by side with other volunteers from ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italy, ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France, ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spain, ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡น Lithuania, ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Germany, and ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท Tรผrkiye was an incredible experience.
We became a family โ€” cooking, learning, and growing together. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

๐ŸŒฑ Learning Beyond the Kitchen

My volunteer work didnโ€™t stop at meal preparation.
I also helped with:
๐Ÿ“ฆ Donation management and logistics
๐ŸŽจ Creative workshops for children and young people
๐Ÿ“ธ Social media campaigns for the NGO
๐ŸŒ Community events about sustainability and inclusion

Through all this, I developed new skills โ€” teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving. ๐Ÿ’ช
I realized that volunteering helps you grow not just as a professional, but as a human being.

โ„๏ธ Living & Travelling in Poland

Polish winters are freezing cold โ„๏ธ โ€” but my heart was warm every day.
On weekends, I explored beautiful cities like Krakรณw, Gdaล„sk, and Wrocล‚aw ๐Ÿš†.
I tried pierogi ๐ŸฅŸ, learned basic Polish (still working on pronunciation ๐Ÿ˜…), and took hundreds of photos of snowy streets and cozy cafรฉs. โ˜•๐Ÿ“ธ

Each city had a story, and each journey made me feel more connected to Europe. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’ฌ Sametโ€™s Message to Future Volunteers

If youโ€™ve ever thought, โ€œMaybe next year Iโ€™ll try volunteeringโ€ฆโ€ โ€” donโ€™t wait.
Say YES now. โœจ

Youโ€™ll gain new friends, new skills, and a new version of yourself you never knew existed.
Volunteering abroad doesnโ€™t just change othersโ€™ lives โ€” it changes yours. ๐Ÿ’™
