A nature park with Celtic roots, a rare terraced landscape shaped by ancient earth movements, and a group of volunteers working as forest rangers to keep it alive. This ESC team project sits on the Dutch-German border โ and it is for people who want to get their hands dirty for something that genuinely matters.
Stichting Internationale Werkkampen (SIW) is organising a group ESC volunteering project at National Park De Meinweg โ a unique 1,800-hectare nature area in Limburg, the Netherlands, uniquely surrounded by Germany on three sides. Volunteers work directly in the park as forest rangers, protecting open landscapes and heathland through hands-on conservation work guided by professionals.
What Is This Role About?
The park’s name comes from an old Celtic word meaning “common land” โ reflecting its long history of shared use by Dutch and German communities. Today, its rare landscape needs regular care to allow plants and animals to thrive. As a volunteer, you become part of that care โ doing the kind of careful, hands-on work that machines simply cannot do.
