A Free Shop providing essential items with dignity. Employment workshops on CVs and job applications. Intercultural events bringing locals and newcomers together. Social media content raising awareness about solidarity and migration. Are You Syrious? (Zemljani) is looking for 2 ESC volunteers to join their team in Croatia — supporting asylum seekers and people under international protection through practical, meaningful, community-based work.

🏢 About Are You Syrious?

Are You Syrious? is a Croatian civil society organisation supporting people on the move — asylum seekers and those under international or temporary protection. Their mission is to build a society based on dignity, solidarity, and justice. Through education, advocacy, integration, and humanitarian work, they promote inclusion and celebrate diversity.

📋 Four Activity Areas

🛍️ Free Shop

Support the provision of essential items to people in need — in a respectful, autonomous way. Helping sort donations and working directly with beneficiaries.

💼 Employment Support

Assist with workshops on CV writing and job applications — practical tools that help people on the move access the labour market.

🌍 Intercultural Workshops

Help bring together locals and beneficiaries to share experiences, learn from each other, and build connections across cultures.

📱 Communication

Create content for social media to raise awareness about migration and promote solidarity.

🎁 What the Project Provides

🏠 Shared apartment for 2 volunteers — rent and utilities covered

🚲 Bicycle or monthly public transport ticket — depending on preference and needs

💶 Monthly pocket money for food and personal expenses

📚 Onboarding presentation from supervisor upon arrival — introduction to the organisation and migration topics

🎓 On-arrival training organised by the National Agency

🗣️ Access to an online Croatian language course throughout the stay

🤝 Invitations to all workshops organised by Are You Syrious? and partner civil society organisations

👤 Who Should Apply

Are You Syrious? is looking for a volunteer who is:

❤️ Motivated, responsible, and empathetic — eager to support people on the move

🌍 Comfortable working in a multicultural and dynamic environment

🔄 Flexible and adaptable — happy to take on a variety of tasks

🏛️ Interested in migration and human rights — no previous experience required

🤝 Respectful and kind in working with people from different backgrounds

💡 Motivated to contribute to a more inclusive and just society
