A former monastery in the quiet village of Schelklingen, nestled in the foothills of the Swabian Alps. Around 270 pupils aged 8 to 20 living and learning together in small classes of 16. And a private boarding school that sees education not as instruction but as a shared life โ€” cognitive, emotional, and creative development all at once. Urspringschule is looking for an ESC volunteer who genuinely wants to be part of that environment.

๐Ÿซ About Urspringschule

Urspringschule in Southern Germany is a private boarding and day school committed to realising its educational mission as a unity of living, learning, and teaching. Around 130 students live at the boarding school and the rest attend as day pupils โ€” all in an atmosphere that balances specialist knowledge, humanity, and creative development. The school is housed in a former monastery in Schelklingen, offering a calm, communal, and genuinely unique setting for this volunteering placement.

๐ŸŽฏ The Role

As an ESC volunteer, you’ll be supporting children and young people aged 8โ€“20 in developing their individual life skillsโ€” their cognitive, emotional, methodological, and social potential. You’ll be embedded in the daily life of the school, working alongside staff, participating in team meetings, and contributing to the community that makes Urspringschule what it is.

๐Ÿ“‹ What You’ll Do

๐Ÿ‘ฆ Support children and young people in their daily school and boarding school life

๐Ÿค Assist staff in educational, recreational, and social activities

๐Ÿƒ Contribute to sports and physical education activities

๐ŸŽจ Help facilitate creative and extracurricular programmes

๐Ÿ“‹ Participate in team meetings and maintain regular contact with your tutor

๐ŸŽ What Urspringschule Provides

๐Ÿ  A fully equipped employee’s apartment located on the school grounds

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Food five times a day at the school canteen

๐Ÿ’ถ A monthly allowance for days off to cover personal food expenses

๐Ÿ’ถ Monthly pocket money of โ‚ฌ210

๐ŸšŒ A monthly transport ticket valid across all local transport in Germany

โœˆ๏ธ Travel expense reimbursement according to ESC guidelines

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ At least one German language course plus the online OLS language course via the ESC system

๐Ÿ“š Two obligatory trainings organised by the German National Agency, plus one workshop organised by coordinating organisation VIA e.V.

๐Ÿ‘ค Regular meetings with a personal tutor throughout the placement

๐Ÿ‘ค Who Should Apply

Urspringschule is looking for a volunteer who is:

โค๏ธ Strongly motivated to work with children and youth โ€” experience in this field is a plus

๐Ÿ‘ฅ A genuine people person with the ability to work in a team

๐Ÿš— In possession of a valid driver’s licence qualifying for driving in Germany, with driving experience

๐Ÿ’ฌ Open, communicative, and adaptable
