In the heart of the Ardennes region of Wallonia, this European Solidarity Corps opportunity invites you to work alongside young people aged 15 to 20 who have dropped out of school โ supporting them through creative, manual, and community activities that help them reflect on and rebuild their futures. If you’re passionate about youth work, social inclusion, and making a genuine difference in a tight-knit community, this is a deeply meaningful role.
๐ Did You Know? Marche-en-Famenne is a charming town in the Belgian Ardennes โ a region of rolling forests, river valleys, and medieval villages in the French-speaking part of Belgium. It sits in the province of Luxembourg (Wallonia), not to be confused with the neighbouring Grand Duchy, and is known for its warm community spirit and proximity to stunning natural landscapes.
What Will You Do?
๐งฐ Support the SacAdos project โ accompanying school dropout youngsters (15โ20) through manual work, creative activities, and social actions that benefit the wider community
๐จ Facilitate cultural, building, painting, and open space maintenance activities with young participants
๐ด Organise activities for elderly people, children, and refugees as part of community outreach
๐๏ธ Help prepare and animate summer camps for children and teenagers
๐๏ธ Take part in social street activities in disadvantaged neighbourhoods
๐ Attend weekly team meetings and support some administrative tasks in the office
๐ฑ Develop your own skills in youth accompaniment, facilitation, and social animation throughout the project
๐ Did You Know? School dropout remains one of Europe’s most pressing social challenges โ with over 10% of young people in the EU leaving education and training early. Projects like SacAdos use hands-on community activities to help these young people regain confidence, find direction, and reconnect with learning and professional life on their own terms.
Who Can Apply?
๐ Aged 18โ30 and residing in one of the eligible ESC countries
๐ Open-minded and comfortable working with young people from diverse social backgrounds
๐ซ๐ท Basic knowledge of French is a valuable asset for this project
๐ค Patient, empathetic, and genuinely motivated to support vulnerable youth
๐จ Interested in creative, manual, and community-based activities
๐ช Ready to engage with both individual youth accompaniment and group facilitation
Accommodation, Food & Travel
๐ Private room in a fully-equipped shared house in the city centre of Marche-en-Famenne, within walking distance of the workplace, shared with other ESC volunteers
๐ฝ๏ธ Monthly food allowance provided โ volunteers manage their own meals independently
๐ถ Pocket money provided in line with ESC rules
โ๏ธ Travel costs covered, with participation in the programme free of charge except for any exceptional contribution to travel costs per ESC rules
Training & Learning
๐ On-arrival seminar and mid-term evaluation organised by the French-speaking National Agency of Belgium
๐ท Optional leader training organised by the coordinating organisation CBB
๐ค Residential weekends and networking activities with other ESC volunteers on CBB-supported projects across French-speaking Belgium
