L’Essentiel asbl is a non-profit centre in the Belgian countryside near Lasne that accompanies people with disabilities in all aspects of daily life and self-development — through sport, culture, arts, and communication. This European Solidarity Corps opportunity welcomes three volunteers to join the centre’s daily rhythm, support residents in their activities, and bring their own creative project ideas to life alongside the people they work with.
🌍 Did You Know? Lasne is a quiet, green municipality in the Brabant Wallon province of Belgium, located between Brussels and Namur. Despite its rural feel, it sits just 20 kilometres from the heart of Brussels — offering volunteers easy access to one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan capital cities while living in a calm, nature-rich environment.
What Will You Do?
💙 Support residents with disabilities in their daily activities at L’Essentiel centre
🎨 Participate in sport, culture, arts, and communication activities alongside residents
💡 Bring your own project ideas to implement together with the residents — creativity and initiative are warmly encouraged
🤝 Help create spaces for socialisation, inclusion, and self-development for people with disabilities
🌍 Share your culture, language, and background with residents and staff as part of daily life at the centre

Inclusive centres like L’Essentiel play a vital role in ensuring people with disabilities can lead active, social, and fulfilling lives — and volunteering in these settings is one of the most impactful ways to contribute to a more inclusive society.
Who Can Apply?
🎂 Aged 18–30 and residing in one of the eligible ESC countries
💙 Motivated by volunteering and genuinely interested in supporting people with disabilities
🌍 Open-minded towards people from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds
🇫🇷 Willing to learn French — French classes and online linguistic support are available
🎨 Creative and flexible, with a willingness to contribute your own ideas and projects
🤝 Comfortable working with any type of public, regardless of ability or background
✅ No specific diploma or professional experience required — motivation is what matters most
Accommodation, Food & Travel
🏠 Private room in a shared house in Braine-l’Alleud, shared with other ESC volunteers — with shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room
🚲 Bikes provided for the daily commute to the centre, with a bus service also available
🍽️ Monthly food allowance provided — volunteers manage their own budget independently
🥗 Free vegetarian-friendly lunch at L’Essentiel on all working days
💶 Pocket money provided monthly in line with ESC programme rules
✈️ Travel costs covered in line with ESC rules
Training & Learning
🎓 Training Info Cycle organised by the Belgian National Agency
🤝 Get Together seminars organised by the coordinating organisation Compagnons Bâtisseurs Belgium (CBB)
🌍 Optional international leader training organised by CBB, held twice a year
🇫🇷 French language classes available, in addition to the standard online linguistic support (OLS)
