This European Solidarity Corps opportunity in Reศiศa, Romania invites four passionate volunteers to work directly with children and young people in disadvantaged communities โ through non-formal education, special needs support, and creative activities. With one dedicated role for a social media and content creation volunteer, this project welcomes a diverse mix of skills and backgrounds united by a shared commitment to making a difference.
๐ Did You Know? Reศiศa, located in the Caraศ-Severin county of western Romania, is one of the country’s oldest industrial cities โ nestled in a green valley surrounded by the Banat Mountains. It sits close to the stunning Semenic-Cheile Caraศului National Park, one of Romania’s most spectacular natural areas.
What Will You Do?
๐ Facilitate daily non-formal educational activities for children in kindergartens, nurseries, after-school programmes, primary schools, and placement centres in disadvantaged areas
๐ง Support children with special needs at dedicated schools and day centres in Reศiศa, Bocศa, Dognecea, and Ocna de Fier
๐ค Help foster tolerance, inclusion, and social skills through child-centred activities
๐จ Organise cultural and volunteering activities that promote solidarity and community values
๐๏ธ Participate as a team member in summer short-term projects, leading team-building activities and developing leadership skills
๐ฑ (Social Media Role) Manage the project’s social media presence โ create content, design visuals, edit videos, and write posts to share the project’s impact
๐ช Collaborate with parents to highlight the value of education and encourage family involvement
๐ Did You Know? Non-formal education โ learning that takes place outside traditional classrooms through activities, games, and group experiences โ has been shown to significantly improve social skills, self-confidence, and inclusion for children in vulnerable communities, especially those with special educational needs.
Volunteer Roles
๐ฉโ๐ซ Non-Formal Education Volunteer (3 positions) โ Work directly with children in educational settings, support homework and English lessons, and build children’s confidence and social skills
๐ฒ Social Media & Content Creation Volunteer (1 position) โ Manage the project’s online presence, create engaging visual and written content, and share success stories with the wider community
Who Can Apply?
๐ Aged 18 to 30 and residing in one of the eligible ESC countries
๐ฃ๏ธ Minimum A2 level of English required
๐ Passionate about education, youth work, and community development
๐ค Flexible, open-minded, tolerant, and communicative
๐ง Able to show initiative, creativity, and a proactive attitude
๐ฅ Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
๐ Interest in pedagogy, special education, or non-formal education is a strong plus
Accommodation, Food & Travel
๐ Fully equipped rented apartment or house with single or shared double bedrooms
๐ก All housing costs fully covered โ rent, water, gas, and electricity included
๐ฝ๏ธ Daily food allowance of โฌ5/day provided
๐ถ Pocket money of โฌ4/day for personal expenses
๐ Local transportation support provided by the hosting NGO
โ๏ธ Travel costs covered in line with ESC programme rules
Training & Learning
๐ป On-Arrival Training delivered online, provided by the Romanian National Agency
๐๏ธ Mid-Term Training conducted in person in Bucharest
