🇭🇷 ESC Volunteering in Croatia 🌱 Seeds of Sustainability 🌿 Eco Centre, Rural Community Life, Latinovac 🇭🇷
Are you drawn to sustainable living, rural community life, ecology, and multicultural exchange — and ready to roll up your sleeves in a small Croatian village? Eko Centar Latinovac is looking for ESC volunteers to join their community and contribute to sustainable and rural development, garden creation, property renovation, community activities, and local school programmes. You will live and work on the organisation’s property, experience vegetarian cuisine and sustainable practices daily, and become a genuine part of a community built around ecology and human connection. €7/day food allowance, €10/day pocket money, travel reimbursed. Deadline: 27 March 2026.
🇭🇷 Did You Know? Slavonia — the region of Croatia where Latinovac is located — is one of the most fertile and ecologically diverse areas in Central Europe. Characterised by flat agricultural plains, ancient oak forests, and the Drava and Sava river valleys, it is often called the breadbasket of Croatia. Far from the tourist crowds of the Dalmatian coast, it offers an authentic, unhurried experience of Croatian rural life that very few international visitors ever discover.
What Will You Do?
🌱Help establish new gardens and contribute to the renovation of property at the Eko Centar — hands-on, practical work in a sustainable rural setting
🏘️Assist with community activities and help people in the local community — building genuine connections with the village and its residents
🏫Organise and participate in activities in local schools — bringing your energy, skills, and international perspective to young people in the area
🎪Support the organisation of short-term projects hosted at the centre — contributing to a wider network of sustainability and volunteering initiatives
🔧Help with the maintenance of the organisation’s property — practical tasks that keep the eco centre running and developing
🍳Help in the kitchen — preparing vegetarian meals and contributing to the community’s daily life and shared routines
💡Share your own skills and ideas — volunteers are welcomed to bring their own initiatives and competences to the project
💡 Did You Know? Eco centres and community-based sustainability projects like Eko Centar Latinovac are part of a growing movement across rural Europe that combines ecological restoration, community building, and intentional living. Many of these centres operate as living laboratories for sustainable practices — testing and demonstrating approaches to food production, building, energy, and community organisation that could be replicated more widely. Volunteering in one means learning by doing in an environment where sustainability is not a concept but a daily reality.
Accommodation, Food & Travel
🏠Accommodation on the organisation’s property — shared room, toilet, and shower. During short-term projects a chef prepares three vegetarian meals per day for the whole group
🍽️€7 per day food allowance — volunteers use the shared kitchen and manage their own meals during regular project periods
💰€10 per day pocket money for personal expenses throughout the placement
✈️Travel costs reimbursed after arrival up to a limit based on distance — details discussed before arrival
Training & Learning
📚Daily supervision across all activities — for more complex tasks, theoretical and demonstrational training and management are provided
👤Mentor support through group and individual meetings throughout the project — volunteers are guided and given feedback at every stage
💡Volunteers are actively welcomed to share their own skill sets — this is a two-way learning environment where your knowledge and experience genuinely matter
Who Can Apply?
🌿You are genuinely interested in sustainability, ecology, and rural ways of living — this is not a background interest but the core of daily life at the centre
🏡You are willing and able to live and work in a rural area — Latinovac is a small village and the lifestyle reflects that in the best possible way
