About the Project
“Clay & Straw as a Key” is a special Erasmus+ Training Course project consisting of TWO interconnected residential training courses, combined with online sessions, video production, and local follow-up activities.
🌱 The project focuses on traditional and local construction techniques (clay, straw, wood) and their adaptation to contemporary, sustainable construction, linking heritage, ecology, and youth work.
This is not a single mobility – participants must attend both residential trainings and all project phases.
Project Structure – 5 Core Activities
🏗️ Residential Training Course 1 – Asturias, Spain 🇪🇸
• Clay & straw plaster
• “Cebatu” brickwork
• Adobe enclosures on timber frames
• Fiber-framed partition walls
• Learning about the Asturian Hórreo (traditional granary)
🏗️ Residential Training Course 2 – Svinjsko, Slovenia 🇸🇮
• Straw bale construction
• Traditional clay plaster
• Straw + lightweight clay mixtures
• Rammed earth techniques
• Learning about the Kozolec (traditional wooden hayrack)
💻 Online Complementary Sessions
• Zoom sessions, videos & theory
• Consolidation of practical learning
🎥 Educational Video Production
• Short explanatory videos for each technique
• Dissemination via social media
🌍 Follow-Up Activities
• Local workshops, exhibitions, small constructions
• Knowledge transfer to communities
• Trainers support the full process

Who Can Apply?
👤 Youth workers, volunteers & sustainability-oriented practitioners
🎂 Preferably 18–45 (not mandatory)
🌍 Actively involved in youth work or community education
🏗️ Strong interest in bioconstruction & sustainability
🗣️ Able to work in English
📅 Able to attend ALL project activities (mandatory)
