About the Opportunity
๐ซ๐ท This inspiring European Solidarity Corps volunteering project takes place in Calvados, Normandy, one of Franceโs most peaceful rural regions filled with outdoor sports, book-friendly spaces, cultural centers, and youth activities. Hosted by CALVADOS and supported by the Italian sending organisation STRANAIDEA Societร Cooperativa Sociale Impresa Sociale, this project invites volunteers to promote reading, creativity, imagination, and cultural expression among children and young people.
๐ Volunteers will work in schools, youth centers, public spaces, cultural venues, and libraries to encourage young people to discover new storytelling styles, enjoy reading, write their own texts, create poems or comics, and participate in playful workshops.
๐ญ Activities may include story circles, creative writing labs, reading clubs, games, thematic visits, and fun cultural events designed to spark curiosity and expression.
Volunteers will be fully involved in shaping the workshops and proposing new ideas โ making this a perfect ESC opportunity for creative, active, people-oriented young volunteers!
Accommodation, Food & Transport
๐ก Accommodation is provided in a family house designed to host five young volunteers.
๐๏ธ Private bedrooms
๐ฟ Shared bathroom & kitchen
๐๏ธ Located near: a castle, organic grocery, bike shop, sports center, and the scenic greenway connecting Caen to Thury.
๐ฝ๏ธ Volunteers prepare their own meals with financial support; free meals are offered on Wednesdays and during school holidays.
๐ฒ You will receive a bicycle and a bus subscription for local transport.

Participant Profile
To feel comfortable in this project, volunteers should ideally:
๐ซ๐ท Have a basic knowledge of French
๐ Enjoy working with children and young audiences
๐ฌ Be confident in communicating with different groups
๐งฉ Be organised, responsible, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team
โจ Prior experience in animation, education, or youth work is an advantage, but not mandatory.
