🌍 About the Project

The project takes place at Casa di Accoglienza Istituto Walden, a shelter for women and children who have survived abuse or come from socially challenging circumstances.

As a volunteer, you will assist the educators in daily life, helping children rebuild confidence, rediscover joy, and find stability through care, creativity, and play.

💛 Volunteer Tasks

As part of the educational and support team, you’ll:
🎨 Help run afterschool workshops – homework support, language lessons, arts & crafts.
🎭 Organise recreational activities – theatre, music, and cooking sessions.
🌍 Lead language workshops in your native language for the children.
🎉 Take part in festivities and cultural events (Carnival, Christmas, Easter, etc.).
🏡 Assist with daily routines – preparing meals, cleaning, and maintaining shared spaces.
🚗 Accompany children to schools, medical visits, sports, and community activities.

This project allows you to engage directly with children, offering both practical support and emotional care, while learning about social work in a community-based context.

🏠 Accommodation, Meals & Allowances

🏡 Volunteers share a flat in Sciacca, living with other international volunteers.
🛏️ Double bedrooms, shared kitchen, and common areas provided.
💶 Financial support:

• €6 per day pocket money
• €100 monthly food allowance
  🍝 Volunteers work 5 days per week (max 36 hours) with 2 consecutive days off and 2 extra days off per month.
  🚌 Transportation is covered for activities and commuting needs.

🧭 Training & Support

🎓 On-arrival training with the coordinating organisation and the Italian National Agency.
🗣️ Online Italian language course to help integration.
📚 Task-specific training at the hosting centre (childcare, safety, and inclusion).
💬 Regular mentoring sessions for reflection, learning, and personal growth.

👥 Participant Profile

This project is looking for a motivated male volunteer who is:
✅ Between 19–30 years old and legally resident in the EU.
✅ Strongly motivated to work with children and young people.
✅ Patient, responsible, and creative.
✅ Ready to live in a small town and share spaces with others.
✅ Physically and emotionally prepared for community work.
✅ Open to learning Italian (or already has basic knowledge).
✨ Previous experience in education, social work, or volunteering is a plus!
