๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ESC Volunteering in France ๐ŸŒฟ Nature Conservation, Invasive Species Removal & Outdoor Community Life in the Basque Region ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

Wet moorland, mountain fences, invasive exotic species, and a team of volunteers working to protect some of the Basque region’s most precious natural sites. This ESC team project in France is for people who want to do conservation work that is genuinely hands-on โ€” no office, no screen, just nature and the people you are working with.

Association Concordia โ€” through Concordia Aquitaine โ€” has created this project in collaboration with nature specialists from the area and the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels (Conservatory of Natural Areas). Together, they are opening their work to international volunteers willing to get stuck into real conservation tasks across multiple natural sites in the Basque region.

What Is This Role About?

The project focuses on protecting natural sites in the Basque region through practical, physical conservation work. Volunteers move between different sites in the middle of nature, contributing to tasks that require care, teamwork, and a genuine connection to the landscape around them.

Activities

๐ŸŒฟ Cutting down and removing invasive exotic species on wet moorland โ€” careful, essential work for protecting native ecosystems

๐Ÿ”๏ธ Repairing and installing fences in mountain areas

๐ŸŒ Working across different natural sites in the Basque region throughout the project

๐Ÿณ Preparing meals together โ€” using locally sourced and seasonal products where possible

๐Ÿ•๏ธ Participating in community life โ€” cleaning, activities, and shared responsibilities on the camping site

Who Should Apply?

The profile for this project is deliberately open โ€” what matters is motivation and the willingness to share a collective experience.

๐Ÿ”น Genuinely interested in nature conservation and outdoor work

๐Ÿ”น Ready for collective living โ€” shared tasks, communal meals, and community responsibilities
