A residential care home close to a forest, 79 residents who form a small community, and a volunteer role built around creativity, connection, and the simple but profound act of making someone’s day better. This ESC placement in Poland is for someone who is patient, creative, and genuinely open to working with older people.

Dom Pomocy Społecznej w Gdyni is a social welfare home for elderly people who need daily support — some with difficulties in mobility, health management, or everyday tasks. The home is located in a cosy, green area with its own garden, and places great importance on residents’ social contact, active participation, and sense of inclusion. As an ESC volunteer, you become part of that commitment — supporting occupational therapy activities, running creative workshops, and helping organise holidays and special events.

What Is This Role About?

Occupational therapy is at the heart of this placement. It helps residents stay active, develop their interests, and enjoy their time — and as a volunteer, you bring fresh ideas, creative energy, and genuine presence to that work. You will also support the broader social and cultural life of the home, contributing to events and activities that keep residents connected and engaged.

🎨 Supporting occupational therapy activities — helping residents stay active and engaged

✂️ Running creative workshops — drawing, painting, sewing, and arts and crafts

🎉 Helping organise holidays and special events for the resident community

🏡 Contributing to Senior Club meetings and social activities
