🇪🇸 ESC Volunteering in Spain ♀️ Women’s Empowerment, Social Support & Feminist Community Work in Avilés 💜

A women’s association rooted in a local community, a network of support for families at risk of social exclusion, and a summer volunteering experience built around empowerment, solidarity, and feminist values. This ESC placement is for women who want to be part of something that genuinely matters.

LaTrebede is a women’s association based in Avilés, northern Spain, that energises a support network for families at risk of social exclusion in the municipality. Their work spans accompaniment, care spaces, support groups, leisure, and social participation — and their Voluntariado Violeta project invites ESC volunteers to join their summer programme of activities focused on empowerment and autonomy.

What Is This Role About?

Volunteers join LaTrebede’s summer support network programme — contributing to meeting activities, empowerment promotion, and autonomy-building within the community. The placement is structured around direct participation in the life of the association, alongside ongoing training on social intervention models and feminism throughout the entire stay.

Activities

🤝 Accompaniment activities — being present and supportive alongside families and women in the community

💜 Care spaces — supporting the emotional and social wellbeing of participants

👥 Support groups — contributing to structured group activities within the network

🎉 Leisure and social participation activities as part of the summer programme

🌸 Empowerment and autonomy promotion — activities focused on strengthening participants’ confidence and independence

Training & Support

📚 Volunteers receive training throughout their entire stay — covering the organisation, its context, and its approach

Accommodation & Practical Details

🏠 Free accommodation at the Albergue Juvenil de la Ciudad de Avilés — shared between volunteers with common spaces

💶 Pocket money and food allowance provided monthly

✈️ All travel costs covered — both international travel and travel related to activities
