🇮🇹 ESC Volunteering in Italy ⚾ Social Inclusion Through Sport: Volunteer at Baseball and Softball Club Rovigo 🦯

Baseball with blind and visually impaired athletes. A summer centre full of children. Short video documentaries, radio podcasts, and multilingual blog posts. ASD Baseball Softball Club Rovigo, coordinated by Xena Centro Scambi e Dinamiche Interculturali, is offering an ESC volunteering placement that combines sport, social inclusion, and creative communication in northern Italy.

🏟️ About the Project

The placement is built around three interconnected areas: working with children at a summer centre, supporting the blind baseball project — a pioneering initiative giving blind and visually impaired people access to sport — and creating communication content that tells the club’s story to the world. The result is a placement with genuine variety and real social impact.

📋 What You’ll Do

👧 Entertainment Activities with Children

🏕️ Support summer centre activities (June to August) — working with a large number of children in a structured recreational setting

🦯 Blind Baseball Project

⚾ Support the blind baseball team — assisting with training, match organisation, and championship activities

🏟️ Contribute to events dedicated to sport for people with disabilities, specifically blind and visually impaired athletes

🎙️ Communication

🎬 Create short videos presenting the club’s various activities

🎧 Produce short radio podcasts — stories from experience, athlete interviews, and coaching storytelling

✍️ Write posts and blog content in multiple languages

🏠 Accommodation

Volunteers are accommodated in one of the association’s houses — either a house managed for foreign coaches or a shared house with young Italians. The aim is to ensure both independence and genuine integration into the local community and culture. Preference for single rooms. Monthly pocket money and food allowance provided.

👤 Who Should Apply

Candidates from all backgrounds are welcome — no discrimination based on gender, religion, political or sexual orientation, past experiences, or studies. Selection is based on:

❤️ Motivation and genuine interest in the organisation’s mission

🏃 Willingness to play an active and engaged role in the project

🗣️ Basic Italian is appreciated but not required

🎬 Skills in video, audio, or written content creation are a plus
