Milan has a lot of faces. Centro IRDA is one of the ones you won’t find in a travel guide โ a vibrant youth centre for children and teenagers in the city, where after-school activities, sports, music, art, and genuine human connection happen every day. No Borders is looking for an ESC volunteer to become part of this community and support the educators, young people, and families who make IRDA what it is.
๐ข About Centro IRDA
Centro IRDA is a youth centre where children and teenagers come for after-school activities, creative workshops, sports, and peer support. It operates at the heart of a local community and works to give young people โ including those from migrant and refugee backgrounds โ the space, resources, and encouragement they need to thrive.
๐ฏ The Role
As an ESC volunteer at IRDA, you’ll be embedded in the daily life of the centre โ working alongside educators, connecting with young people, and bringing your own ideas and energy to the programme. No two days will look exactly the same.
๐ What You’ll Do
โ๏ธ Help children and teenagers with homework support so they can stay on track at school
๐ถ Assist with workshops on music, radio, sports, art, and more
โฝ Support educators in organising sports activities
๐ก Come up with new ideas to engage the local community
๐ Share your volunteer experience and promote European opportunities among young people
๐ฑ Assist with social media management and write blog posts
๐ธ Showcase the centre’s activities by taking photos
๐ What the Project Provides
๐ Shared apartment with double shared rooms โ you’ll share with another volunteer of the same gender, alongside young Italians and other ESC volunteers. Shared bathrooms and a comfortable eat-in kitchen
๐ถ โฌ6 per day pocket money paid monthly
๐ฝ๏ธ โฌ160 per month to cover food expenses
๐ Monthly public transport pass for commuting to activity locations
โ๏ธ Travel expenses reimbursed according to European Commission guidelines
๐ Participation in On Arrival Training and Mid-Term Evaluation organised by the Italian National Agency
๐ Additional training organised by the coordinating organisation with the IRDA coordinator and mentor
๐ค Who Should Apply
IRDA is looking for a volunteer who is:
๐ค Ready to work with teenagers and young people with genuine enthusiasm
๐ฌ Sociable, communicative, and able to easily bond with young people and give them support
โฝ Ready to play sports and do workouts in any weather conditions
๐จ Willing to do arts, games, and creative activities
๐ค Collaborative and team-oriented, able to cooperate with educators
๐๏ธ Willing to plan, organise, and manage activities independently
๐ฎ๐น Motivated to learn and speak Italian and connect with locals
