In Preลกov, eastern Slovakia, this European Solidarity Corps team volunteering camp invites empathetic, proactive young people to spend two weeks bringing joy, activity, and connection to young people with disabilities and seniors from the Barlicka social centre. Through trips, games, and competitions organised as part of a daily summer camp, volunteers become an integral part of the participants’ lives โ no special skills required, just genuine motivation, warmth, and the willingness to show up fully for others.

Located just 36 kilometres from the Ukrainian border and close to the Tatra mountains, it sits at a fascinating crossroads of Central European history, culture, and landscape.
What Will You Do?
โฟ Organise and lead free-time activities for young people with disabilities (18+) and seniors from the Barlicka social centre โ most participants use wheelchairs
๐ Plan and facilitate trips, competitions, games, and other summer camp activities in collaboration with camp leaders
๐ Plan activities and the programme in advance with the camp team before each day begins
๐งโ๐ฆฝ Receive short training on wheelchair management on your first day, plus individual information about each participant
๐ Prepare and host the “Feast of Cultures” international food evening with your fellow volunteers
๐ Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00โ12:00 and 13:00โ15:30

Who Can Apply?
๐ Aged 18 to 30 and residing in an EU member country or one of the eligible ESC countries
๐ฃ๏ธ Good level of English โ the working language of the camp
๐ Empathetic, motivated, and proactive โ the most important qualities for this role

No special skills or experience with disabilities required โ enthusiasm and a caring attitude are what count
๐ A motivation letter of at least ยพ of an A4 page is required โ explaining why you want to participate and how you want to contribute
๐ All accepted volunteers must provide a certificate of good conduct before the camp begins
๐ซ Alcohol, cigarettes, and other substances are strictly not permitted within the social centre premises
Accommodation, Food & Travel
๐ Accommodation in a flat with beds in 3 shared rooms โ volunteers must bring their own sleeping bag
๐ Shared kitchen facilities, washing machine, and 3 shared bathrooms provided
๐ณ Volunteers organised into kitchen teams to prepare breakfast and dinner โ groceries provided
๐ฅ Lunch provided by the local partner on working days
โ ๏ธ Please note: due to catering capacity, the organisers are unable to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, or allergy-specific diets
