The Maison de la Culture Famenne-Ardenne (MCFA) is a vibrant cultural hub in Marche-en-Famenne, in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, dedicated to bringing culture to the broadest possible public through theatre, concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and community programmes. This European Solidarity Corps opportunity invites a creative, socially engaged volunteer to help animate cultural activities, support the public library, co-lead workshops, and contribute to a rich programme that sits at the intersection of culture and social inclusion.

๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Marche-en-Famenne is the main town of the Famenne region in the Belgian province of Luxembourg (Wallonia) โ€” a land of rolling hills, dense forests, and medieval heritage. Despite its small size, Marche hosts a thriving cultural scene and serves as a regional hub for arts, community life, and social initiatives in one of Belgium’s most scenic and welcoming areas.

What Will You Do?

๐ŸŽจ Create, manage, animate, and evaluate cultural actions at the MCFA and the public library BiLoM
๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Co-animate exhibition visits and artistic workshops for diverse audiences
๐Ÿค Attend meetings with social partners and contribute to reflections on the pedagogical and social missions of the centre
๐ŸŽญ Support the organisation of theatre shows, concerts, exhibitions, art festivals, and other cultural events
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Help with event set-up and strike-down, welcoming the public and artists, reception duties, and ticketing
๐ŸŒฑ Contribute to the social vegetable garden and other community-driven initiatives run by the centre
๐Ÿ“š Work alongside the BiLoM public library team to connect reading, culture, and community engagement
๐ŸŒ Did You Know? Cultural centres across Belgium play a uniquely important role in social cohesion โ€” they are publicly funded hubs where arts, education, and community development intersect. In Wallonia, the “Maisons de la Culture” network has been a cornerstone of democratic cultural access since the 1970s, built on the belief that culture is a right for everyone, not a privilege for the few.
