🇹🇷 ESC Volunteering in Türkiye 🚨 You Future 🌍 Disaster Preparedness and Community Resilience, Sorgun/Yozgat 🇹🇷
Are you interested in disaster preparedness, climate change, and community resilience — and ready to join an international team of volunteers for an intensive ESC team volunteering experience in Central Anatolia, Türkiye? The You Future project in Sorgun, Yozgat brings together 10 young volunteers to receive training on disaster preparedness, post-disaster recovery, and climate resilience, and then share that knowledge with local children, young people, and adults through training sessions, events, and community campaigns. Shared apartment accommodation, €6/day pocket money, €6/day food allowance, and travel costs reimbursed. Deadline: 15 March 2026 — apply today.
🇹🇷 Did You Know? Yozgat province, where this project takes place, sits in the heart of the Central Anatolian plateau — one of the least-visited and most authentically Turkish regions of the country. Sorgun itself is a quiet district town surrounded by steppe landscape and pine forests, far from the tourist circuits of Istanbul or the coast. Volunteering here offers a genuinely immersive encounter with everyday Turkish life and community culture that very few international visitors ever experience.

What Will You Do?

🚨Receive training on disaster preparedness, climate change, post-disaster recovery, and community resilience — through workshops, seminars, field visits, and group activities
📣Organise training sessions, events, and awareness campaigns for local children, young people, and adults — sharing the knowledge gained through the project with the wider community
🌍Foster intercultural dialogue within the volunteer team and with the local community — bringing your own background and perspectives into a genuinely international group dynamic
🤝Work collaboratively as part of a team of 10 international volunteers — cooperating on joint activities, campaigns, and community-facing projects throughout the placement
🏘️Contribute to building a more disaster-prepared and resilient community in Sorgun — making a tangible impact through direct engagement with local residents
💡 Did You Know? Türkiye is one of the most seismically active countries in the world — located at the intersection of three major tectonic plates. The devastating earthquakes of February 2023, which affected over 10 provinces and caused enormous humanitarian impact, brought disaster preparedness and community resilience to the centre of public and policy debate across the country. Working on these topics in Türkiye today means engaging with issues that are deeply real, urgently relevant, and actively being addressed at every level of society.
