What Will You Do as a Volunteer?
๐ Teach fashion design and knitting skills to young women and girls in the local community
๐๏ธ Develop new products based on local market demand and community needs
๐ฃ Support the marketing of youth centre products both locally and internationally
๐ช Organise exhibitions and exposure tours to showcase participants’ work and build confidence
๐ฐ Provide basic financial literacy training to help women achieve economic independence
โ Develop and implement a quality control system for products and training outcomes
๐ค Strengthen relationships with existing partners and identify new collaboration opportunities
Accommodation, Food & Travel
๐ You will stay in a shared apartment with other volunteers, each with a private lockable bedroom in the suburbs of Kampala
๐ You will travel daily to the project site using local public transport including Matatus and Boda Bodas
๐ต A monthly allowance will be provided to cover food, communication costs, and local transportation throughout your stay
Training & Learning
๐ป You will participate in an online pre-departure training before arriving in Uganda
๐ค An in-person induction will be provided upon your arrival at the host organisation
๐ฃ๏ธ You will be encouraged and financially supported to learn the local language during your volunteering
Participant Profile
๐ You are passionate about working with girls and women from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds
โ๏ธ You have qualifications or experience in textile fashion design, tailoring, or knitting
๐ฉโ๐ซ You have experience in teaching or instructing textile-related work
๐ป You have basic computer skills for communication, design, and marketing purposes
๐ You are open-minded, emotionally resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to local environments
๐ฃ๏ธ You are proficient in spoken and written English
