You can join an international ESC volunteering experience in Kampala, Uganda, where you will empower disadvantaged girls and women in slum communities through hands-on training in sewing, tailoring, knitting, and financial literacy. What Will You Do as a Volunteer?

👗 Teach fashion design and knitting skills to young women and girls in the local community

🛍️ Develop new products based on local market demand and community needs

📣 Support the marketing of youth centre products both locally and internationally

🎪 Organise exhibitions and exposure tours to showcase participants’ work and build confidence

💰 Provide basic financial literacy training to help women achieve economic independence

✅ Develop and implement a quality control system for products and training outcomes

🤝 Strengthen relationships with existing partners and identify new collaboration opportunities

Accommodation, Food & Travel

🏠 You will stay in a shared apartment with other volunteers, each with a private lockable bedroom in the suburbs of Kampala

🚌 You will travel daily to the project site using local public transport including Matatus and Boda Bodas

💵 A monthly allowance will be provided to cover food, communication costs, and local transportation throughout your stay

Training & Learning

💻 You will participate in an online pre-departure training before arriving in Uganda

🤝 An in-person induction will be provided upon your arrival at the host organisation

🗣️ You will be encouraged and financially supported to learn the local language during your volunteering

Participant Profile

💚 You are passionate about working with girls and women from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds

✂️ You have qualifications or experience in textile fashion design, tailoring, or knitting

👩‍🏫 You have experience in teaching or instructing textile-related work

💻 You have basic computer skills for communication, design, and marketing purposes

🌍 You are open-minded, emotionally resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to local environments

🗣️ You are proficient in spoken and written English
