Are you passionate about fashion, design, and creating real social impact? You can join an international ESC volunteering experience in Kampala, Uganda, where you will empower disadvantaged girls and women in slum communities through hands-on training in sewing, tailoring, knitting, and financial literacy. What Will You Do as a Volunteer?

๐Ÿ‘— Teach fashion design and knitting skills to young women and girls in the local community

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Develop new products based on local market demand and community needs

๐Ÿ“ฃ Support the marketing of youth centre products both locally and internationally

๐ŸŽช Organise exhibitions and exposure tours to showcase participants’ work and build confidence

๐Ÿ’ฐ Provide basic financial literacy training to help women achieve economic independence

โœ… Develop and implement a quality control system for products and training outcomes

๐Ÿค Strengthen relationships with existing partners and identify new collaboration opportunities

Accommodation, Food & Travel

๐Ÿ  You will stay in a shared apartment with other volunteers, each with a private lockable bedroom in the suburbs of Kampala

๐ŸšŒ You will travel daily to the project site using local public transport including Matatus and Boda Bodas

๐Ÿ’ต A monthly allowance will be provided to cover food, communication costs, and local transportation throughout your stay

Training & Learning

๐Ÿ’ป You will participate in an online pre-departure training before arriving in Uganda

๐Ÿค An in-person induction will be provided upon your arrival at the host organisation

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ You will be encouraged and financially supported to learn the local language during your volunteering

Participant Profile

๐Ÿ’š You are passionate about working with girls and women from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds

โœ‚๏ธ You have qualifications or experience in textile fashion design, tailoring, or knitting

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ You have experience in teaching or instructing textile-related work

๐Ÿ’ป You have basic computer skills for communication, design, and marketing purposes

๐ŸŒ You are open-minded, emotionally resilient, flexible, and able to adapt to local environments

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ You are proficient in spoken and written English
