About the Internship
This full-time UNHCR Protection Internship is based in the Republic of Korea and focuses on refugee protection, asylum systems, and human rights advocacy. The position is hosted by UNHCR Korea and financially supported through the KOICA-sponsored internship programme, offering young professionals hands-on experience within an international protection framework.

Key Responsibilities
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Support responses to inquiries from asylum-seekers and refugees
๐Ÿ“ž Communicate with NGOs, government counterparts, and other stakeholders
๐Ÿ“š Conduct research on protection-related topics, including Country of Origin Information (COI)
๐ŸŒ Translate documents and materials between Korean and English
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Assist with interpretation during meetings, trainings, and events
๐ŸŽ“ Support capacity-building trainings for government officers involved in Refugee Status Determination
๐Ÿ“ Participate in meetings, take notes, and prepare summaries
๐Ÿ“œ Monitor legislative and policy developments related to asylum and protection
๐Ÿ“ฆ Provide logistical and administrative support for workshops, roundtables, and awareness events

Who Can Apply?
๐Ÿ‘ค NationalityKorean citizens only
๐ŸŽ‚ Age: 19โ€“34 years
๐ŸŽ“ Background in law, international relations, political science, social sciences, human rights, or related fields
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Excellent written and spoken Korean and English
๐Ÿ“‘ Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
โš–๏ธ Interest in refugee protection, statelessness, and international human rights
๐Ÿ“Œ Translation or interpretation skills are a strong asset

Internship Conditions
โฐ Full-time: Mondayโ€“Friday, 09:00โ€“18:00 (40 hours/week)
๐Ÿ“ On-site internship (remote work not available)
๐Ÿ’ฐ Monthly allowance: KRW 2,200,000 sponsored by KOICA
โž• Any difference with UNHCR internship allowance may be covered by UNHCR
๐Ÿšซ Previous KOICA Young Professional Program participants may not be eligible
