🧭 About the Volunteering Opportunity
IRIDA Women’s Center Education and Recreational Activities Volunteer is an European Solidarity Corps individual volunteering opportunity hosted by United Societies of Balkans at Irida Women’s Center in Thessaloniki, Greece. The project focuses on supporting refugee, migrant, and local women who are among the most vulnerable, through education, psychosocial support, skill-building, and community-based recreational activities. Volunteers will contribute to a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment designed specifically for women.
🎯 Main Aim
To empower refugee, migrant, and local women through education, confidence-building, and inclusive recreational activities, while strengthening social inclusion and gender equality.
🧩 Volunteer Tasks and Activities
📘 Teach English language classes and or digital literacy to adult women
💻 Support digital skills development using online tools and platforms
📝 Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to learners’ needs
🎨 Lead recreational and creative group activities such as arts, crafts, cooking, or gymnastics
🤝 Encourage participation, confidence, and self-expression in a safe space
👥 Collaborate with the team and share feedback on participants’ progress
👤 Participant Profile
👩 Female applicants only
🎂 Aged 18–30
🗣️ Proficiency in English required minimum C1 level, native preferred
📚 Comfortable teaching English as a Foreign Language experience is an advantage
💻 Confident using digital tools and computer platforms
🌍 Comfortable working in a multicultural and diverse environment
🤍 Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
🗣️ Additional languages are a plus Greek, Arabic, Farsi, Ukrainian, Russian, French

🏢 Accommodation in a fully equipped volunteer house in the city centre

📚 Training and Learning Opportunities
🎓 Task-related training provided by the host organisation
