🌱 Project Overview
This European Solidarity Corps (ESC) Individual Volunteering opportunity takes place in Pälkäne, Finland 🇫🇮 and focuses on youth work, community engagement, intercultural learning, and nature-based activities. Volunteers contribute to local youth services, cultural and library activities, school youth work, and outdoor events, while experiencing everyday life in a Finnish community.
🎯 Volunteering Activities
Volunteers will be involved in a variety of community-oriented tasks, including:
🧑🤝🧑 Supporting youth centres and school youth work activities
📚 Assisting library and cultural services for different age groups
🎉 Helping organise youth events and international-themed evenings
🌲 Supporting outdoor and nature-based activities such as excursions and community events
👶 Assisting early childhood education during trips and larger outdoor events
🤝 Working closely with local staff and participating in community life in Pälkäne
🏡 Accommodation, Food & Transport
🏠 Furnished apartment in the centre of Pälkäne
🍽️ Meals provided at schools and the youth centre
🛒 Groceries for home cooking covered via the municipality
🚐 Transport arranged by youth services for activities outside the town centre
🎓 Training & Support During the Activity
🤝 Continuous support from a local supervisor and mentor
🧠 Mentoring focused on wellbeing, learning, and leisure time
🌍 Opportunities to meet other international volunteers in nearby cities
📘 On-arrival training included as part of the volunteering experience
👤 Participant Profile
🎂 Aged 18–30
😊 Positive, open-minded, and responsible
👧 Enjoys working with children and young people
🤝 Able to work independently and as part of a team
🌲 Comfortable with outdoor activities in different weather conditions
🎓 Background in youth work, education, culture, or event organisation is an advantage but not required
🗣️ Basic English is sufficient; Finnish is not required (learning encouraged and supported)
