The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is offering a full-time, paid Summer 2026 internship within its Middle East Program in Washington, D.C. This is a substantive research and policy role β not a coffee-fetching gig β where you’ll contribute directly to high-level analysis on one of the world’s most complex and consequential regions.

What Will You Do?
π Compile research briefs and literature reviews for fellows and senior research staff
βοΈ Attend virtual or in-person events and produce detailed event summaries
π Pitch and research content for the Middle East Program newsletter, including the “Charting the Middle East” chart series
π Support maintenance of the programme’s website, impact tracker, and contact database
ποΈ Assist with other administrative and programmatic tasks as needed

Who Can Apply?
π Bachelor’s degree or higher in Middle East studies, international affairs, political science, or a related field
π Minimum 3.5 GPA on a U.S. scale (or equivalent)
π Strong demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the Middle East
βοΈ Outstanding written, research, and oral communication skills in English
π§ A creative mindset and enthusiasm for challenging, intellectually demanding assignments
π£οΈ Working knowledge of Arabic, Persian, and/or Hebrew is strongly preferred (reading and listening skills)
π Candidates with skills in data analysis and visualisation, AI knowledge, or Gulf experience are especially encouraged to apply
βοΈ Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Compensation
π΅ $18.00/hour β current undergraduate students
π΅ $19.00/hour β candidates holding a bachelor’s degree
π΅ $20.00/hour β candidates holding a master’s degree
