๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ ESC Volunteering in Finland ๐ŸŒฟ Greenspaces and Local Culture ๐ŸŽ‰ Community Volunteering Team, Siikajoki ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ
Are you ready to join a team of 8 volunteers in a small Finnish municipality on the coast of Northern Ostrobothnia โ€” caring for greenspaces, celebrating local culture, and working hand in hand with the local community? The municipality of Siikajoki is looking for motivated ESC volunteers to maintain outdoor venues, plan and implement communal events, and create activities that bring residents together. This is a short-term team volunteering experience in a genuinely off-the-beaten-path corner of Finland, where midnight sun, Nordic nature, and community spirit define the experience. Apply by sending a motivation letter and CV directly to the organiser. Deadline: 27 March 2026.
๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Did You Know? Siikajoki is located in Northern Ostrobothnia โ€” a coastal region of Finland that stretches along the Gulf of Bothnia. In late June, this part of Finland experiences the midnight sun: the sun barely sets, and daylight lasts virtually around the clock. Volunteering here in summer means working and living in one of the most atmospheric natural phenomena northern Europe has to offer.

What Will You Do?

๐ŸŒฟCare for and maintain outdoor greenspaces โ€” including parks, playgrounds, and other outdoor venues across the municipality of Siikajoki
๐ŸคWork directly with local residents to create activities and increase community involvement โ€” building genuine connections with the people of Siikajoki
๐ŸŽ‰Plan and implement communal and cultural events that celebrate local culture and bring the community together
๐ŸŒฒWork outdoors in the Nordic summer environment โ€” tasks vary and volunteers need to be ready to work in all weather conditions
๐Ÿ•Adapt to flexible working hours โ€” tasks and schedules shift according to the needs of the project and the community
๐Ÿ’ก Did You Know? ESC Volunteering Teams projects like this one are specifically designed to bring together volunteers from multiple countries to work on a shared community goal โ€” rather than placing individuals independently. This format is particularly powerful for short-term projects, creating an intensive, collaborative experience where international teamwork and local community engagement happen simultaneously from day one.

Accommodation, Food & Travel

๐Ÿ Dormitory accommodation with shared rooms (same gender) โ€” the dormitory has a kitchen and bathrooms available for volunteers
๐ŸณFood money provided โ€” volunteers prepare their own meals using the shared kitchen
๐ŸšŒMost work tasks take place within short distances โ€” transportation provided when needed. A train station with connections to other cities is located nearby
โœˆ๏ธTravel support provided in accordance with ESC programme rules

Training & Learning

๐Ÿ“šOn-arrival training to orient volunteers to the project, the municipality, and the local community
๐Ÿ‘คTask-related support and mentoring provided throughout the project โ€” volunteers are guided and supported in their day-to-day work

Who Can Apply?

๐ŸคYou are active, motivated, and genuinely enjoy working together with local communities โ€” not just alongside other volunteers, but with the people who live there
๐ŸŒง๏ธYou are comfortable working outdoors regardless of weather โ€” Finnish summer weather can be unpredictable and volunteers need to be prepared
๐Ÿ•You are flexible โ€” working hours shift according to tasks and you are able to adapt to a changing schedule
