A circus school in rural southern France. Trapeze, juggling, and acrobatics as tools for social inclusion. A volunteer role that combines socio-cultural animation, youth work, and hands-on circus education in one of the most distinctive ESC placements out there. L’Art d’En Faire is looking for an ESC volunteer to join their team in Joyeuse, Ardรจche โ and a motivated beginner is just as welcome as an experienced circus artist.
๐ช About L’Art d’En Faire
L’Art d’En Faire is a social circus school operating in the Ardรจche region of southern France, using circus arts as a tool for non-formal education, social cohesion, and community engagement. The project is coordinated by I-PEICC Peuple et Culture, a network dedicated to popular education and cultural action. The volunteer will work alongside a French volunteer and a wider team of youth workers and local volunteers.
๐ฏ The Role
The volunteer will carry out socio-cultural animation missions โ supporting circus classes, contributing to youth projects, developing their own activities within the volunteer network, and handling logistics for events and educational actions. There is also space to bring and develop skills from outside circus if the volunteer has them.

๐คธ Assist in the educational supervision of circus arts activities โ supporting classes and workshops
๐ Participate in youth and social projects โ working with other youth actors on non-formal education, sharing experiences, and serving as a peer guide for young people in the area
๐ค Develop projects of their own choice to energise the volunteer network of L’Art d’En Faire
๐ง Handle material logistics linked to educational actions and events โ site layout, sound system, equipment management, DIY, welcoming the public, and receiving artistic companies
๐ฃ Support communication and dissemination of the organisation’s activities
๐ก Carry out activities related to their own skills โ whatever they want to develop or bring to the team
๐ Accommodation
The volunteer lives in a furnished individual studio apartment above the Joyeuse medical centre โ a 10-minute walk from the circus school. Adjacent to another studio apartment where the French volunteer stays. Each studio has its own bathroom; the fully equipped kitchen and balcony are shared between the two volunteers.
๐ A driving licence (Category B) is a plus โ a vehicle may possibly be loaned. Buses also pass through Joyeuse for local travel.
